There’s something about the first few weeks of fall that makes you want to slow down a little. Days get shorter, temperatures cool off, football is back, and weekends start to look a little different. But while summer may be winding down, that doesn’t mean the fun at Rockford Country Club is.
In fact, fall and winter are some of the best times to experience everything a country club membership has to offer. If you’ve always thought of a country club as primarily a summer destination, fall is a great time to take another look.
Fall Golf Has Its Own Kind of Magic
For golfers, fall might be one of the most enjoyable times of the year to get out on the course. Cooler temperatures make for comfortable rounds, the changing leaves create a beautiful backdrop, and the pace of the course can feel a little more relaxed. There’s something special about spending a crisp fall afternoon outside with a few friends and then heading into the clubhouse afterward.
Fall golf is also a great way to keep playing before winter arrives. Instead of waiting until spring to get back into your routine, you can take advantage of those beautiful October and November days while they last. And because golf at a country club is about more than just the game, a fall round can easily turn into dinner, drinks, conversation, or an evening spent catching up with friends.
A New Season for Socializing
One of the best parts of fall at the Club is that the social calendar doesn’t slow down. The holidays bring opportunities to get together with friends, meet other members, and make new traditions. From holiday celebrations to seasonal dinners and events, there are plenty of reasons to come through the Club even when you aren't playing golf.
For families, it can also be nice to have a place to go where everyone can enjoy themselves. Instead of figuring out what to do every weekend, your membership gives you a built-in calendar of opportunities to get out, socialize, and enjoy time together.
Keep the Outdoor Fun Going With Skeet
If you’re looking for something different to do this fall and winter, our skeet program is another great benefit of membership. Our skeet program runs from the end of October through the end of March on weekend mornings, giving members another way to spend time at the Club during the colder months.
It’s a completely different experience from golf, and it’s a great way to get outside, try something new, and spend a Saturday or Sunday morning with fellow members. We also serve a hot breakfast in the Skeet House, which has its own special character and charm only found in a country club environment.
For many people, having activities like this available is what makes a country club feel like more than just a golf course. It becomes a place where you can find something to do throughout the year.
Your Home Base for the Season
There’s also something to be said about having a place that feels like your own. Fall can be busy. Between school activities, sports, work, holidays, and everything else that fills up the calendar, it’s easy for the season to fly by. Having a country club membership gives you a home base where you already know the people, the staff, and the surroundings. You can stop in for dinner, meet friends for a drink, bring the family to an event, or spend a Saturday morning enjoying one of the Club’s activities. You don't have to plan an elaborate night out every time. Sometimes it's simply nice to have somewhere familiar to go.
And Then There Are the Holidays
The holiday season is one of the times when a country club really comes to life. Holiday events give members a chance to dress up, get together, and celebrate without having to worry about where to host or what to plan. They also create opportunities to meet other members and build relationships that extend well beyond the Club.
Not looking to cook your Thanksgiving meal from scratch? Take advantage of our annual Gobbler to Go program and let us do the bulk of the work for you. Want to see tree lighting without fighting the typical holiday crowds? Join us for a special tree lighting ceremony followed by dinner in the clubhouse with entertainment by the strolling orchestra, Tremper Strings. We also host Dinner with Santa, our Member Appreciation Party, a Super Bowl party, and so much more during the winter months.
For families, couples, and individuals alike, these events can become traditions that you look forward to year after year.
Why Wait Until Spring?
A lot of people assume that spring is the time to join a country club. But if you're considering membership, there’s something to be said for joining in the fall. You can get settled in, meet other members, experience the Club's fall and holiday events, take advantage of the remaining golf season, and participate in winter activities like skeet. By the time spring arrives, you'll already feel at home.
